I have over 20 years' experience teaching English, and my passion for the subject remains as strong as ever.
I have over 20 years' experience teaching English, and my passion for the subject remains as strong as ever.
I have been fortunate to enjoy a varied teaching career, delivering English lessons both in schools and as a private tutor for over 20 years, working with students from Year 4 to Year 11. Supporting learners to build their confidence and achieve their full potential has always been at the heart of my approach.
I have helped prepare students for SATs, 11+, 13+, Scholarships, ISEB Common Entrance examinations, GCSE English (Language & Literature), and school-specific entrance tests.
Throughout my career, I've taken on a variety of roles. I've been a form tutor to a range of year groups, taught RS alongside my English specialism, and supported pupils as a boarding house assistant - an experience that gave me valuable insight into life beyond the classroom. For the last seven years, I've served as Head of English at an independent school, and I now continue to teach English there part-time.
I'm a passionate reader and love discovering books for all ages, from children's stories to the latest adult fiction and non-fiction. I believe there's a book out there for everyone and enjoy helping students find the story that sparks their interest and enthusiasm.
In my spare time, I love nothing more than getting lost in a good book - or listening to one! I read (or listen to) around 50 books a year and am always on the lookout for my next great read. I also enjoy long walks with my dog, trips to the theatre, and a refreshing swim to clear my mind and stay active.
