Hi. I have been a teacher of English my whole career and care passionately about the subject.
During my long career as an English teacher I have experience especially in teaching pupils for their 11+ entrance exams, Common Entrance and also for GCSE. I am a frustrated writer myself as I long to write creatively and have written a biography about a WW1 veteran which was both a fascinating and very rewarding experience.
One of my favourite books that I have taught is 'Noughts and Crosses' by Malorie Blackman which looks into a very different world where the black/white community are role reversed - a fascinating insight into prejudice!
I have a family of three adult girls, love horses (we have 17), walking my dogs in the beautiful Surrey countryside and travelling to far flung places. I am also studying to be a counsellor at present which I am finding very therapeutic. The problems the pandemic has caused with both students' academic progress and their mental health is another thing I care passionately about and hope to help students through this very difficult time.
I am excited working for Cicero as the next stage in my career and find the process of helping students individually or in small groups most rewarding.
